Surfing 101

Surfing may be learned in three easy steps namely; READY, PADDLE UP!

DEFINITIONS:

1.Ready is the phase where in one lies flat on the surfboard while waiting for the waves to come, while both hands are holding the sides of the board.

Tip: if you wish to adjust your boby position to attain balance while your are rested on the board, use your hips to be able to move on the board.

2.Paddle is the literal paddling using your hands when waves are approaching. You must keep in mind that it is improper, not to mention, awkward to paddle using both hands simultaneously - meaning both hands are paddling having the same direction. The correct way to do it is to use the right and the left hand alternately in paddling.

3. And finally - UP! The phase where in you must push yourself to be able to stand on the surfboard. Do it by resting your hands flat on the surfboard. They must be on the level of your chest and then push your body up. At the same time, your right foot must step forward and your left foot must be steady on the other end of the board.

KEEP IN MIND: SUrfing is a discipline. Although surfing 101 is wrapped up in three words, it takes a lot of guts and a lot more practice to be able to ride a wave flawlessly.
